Interview for YouTube paper

Interview conducted 4/25/09

Conducter: Alfonso Rocha (Me)
Interviewee: Jesus Quiroz

Q: What do you think about Youtube?
A: Its a great video sharing search engine. It is great because the videos are free and there are many things you can see. It is also a great way to advertise your buisiness.

Q: YouTube first started as just a video sharing website. Do You think YouTube has changed?
A: Yes YouTube has lost its true nature of just being a video sharing website. Now it has become something that people use to reach thier goals. They use it as a means of an end. It is used to get something for themselves. An example is musicians by putting up their music hopping to get discovered.

Class review 3/12/09

The revised version of the class differed in that we actually had to use computers in order to finish our home-works, which were blogs posts. Also we alternated from the boring room to the incubator once a week. Another difference was that we didn't read a book that we originally had to read with the old class structure.

I preferred the second version of the class because we did class in a different way instead of the old fashioned way. I also liked that we read but not a lot like we would have done in the old version of the class.

I believe that if more time was given for each essay to be written it would run much more smoothly. Also, it helps if grades were given because then that is how students know how they are doing. Personally i am kinda worried because i don't know the grade that i have. Also if students were given topics that they are more interested, writing a paper would be much easier for them. I know for me i did not like the budget cut essay so i had a pretty hard time writing that one.

I liked everything about it. i liked that we got to use computers and we learned how to take over the big screen tvs. I didn't dislike anything about the room everything was good.

Assessing Assestments 4/23/09

What i still need to get is the book and i still need to find an interviwe, that i see that will be creadible, and interview him via youtube messages.

I believe that i might still need to asses my resources again so i can get more from them and see if they will or not be useful.

resources reflections 4/23/09

I found my resources at the sjsu website. i used one of the search tools and looked under newspapers and articles and i found like three there. One of them i found just on the web and it turned out to be an entry on blogger. The interview i am going to do online messaging a person and asking them questions. This person is going to be a user that has an account on youtube. The book i tried searchin at the library but i have still had no luck.

Research has altered my idea in focusing me more on the topic based on the things that i find. It actually has kinda made me think more about the topic and seeing if i could get more insight about what i am going to write about.....

I have not yet found a book that corresponds to what i am choosing of researching but i have been searching. Hopefully by the beggining of class tomorrow i will have a book.

Blog of youtube 4/20/09

http://spongebob-resources.blogspot.com/2008/02/why-youtube-is-so-popular.html

This blog that i found comes from blogger.com and i see it as a relieble source because it is someones opinion of why youtube is so popular. Also the information that is on there seems to be correct from what i know about youtube so i see it as useful information. Even thought this might be some ramdom person, that is what i am looking for, somone who will tell me why they use and post videos on youtube. So i believe this blog has some useful infotmation that i can use.

Interview for youtube. 4/20/09

For the interview portion i am thinking on making an account on youtube and interviewing someone on youtube through the message system on youtube. The person i will be looking for to interview is going to be someone who post something other than just music videos on youtube. Hopefully this interveiw will help me answer the question of why people feel they need to post videos on youtube. I have not yet done this interview but will start it this week. This interview will be helpfull to me because i will be getting information from someone who actually spends time on youtube and posts videos.

YouTube: an opportunity for consumer narrative analysis? (Accessed 4/16/09)

I got this journal from one of the SJSU databases and it is relieable because it is a peer reviewed journal. This journal had alot of useful information that i can use becasue it talks about how many people make videos out of pictures and it can actually make you win awards. This journal also has a lot of background information about youtube which can be really useful and i can use on my paper and use as evidence. I can use some information to say how companies use youtube as a maketing tool to get attention and their products out there.

Post Apocalypse (Accessed 4/16/09)

I got this article from the sjsu library newspaper and journal database and for that reason I see it as a reliable source. Since it is in the library it should be something that I can use and actually be useful to me. The information that can be used in this article is that even though people get rude comments on the videos they post on youtube, they still keep posting videos without caring about the comments that are being posted about the things they put up. This can help me show that it is sometimes not the reactions that videos get from people but just the pleasure of putting things up.

Newspaper article name: Living in a YouTube dream world zone accessed 4/16/09

I found this article at the SJSU all press watch database. I see it as a reliable source because it is in the library database and it has a lot of useful information about what can happen when you post videos on youtube and why this might be a reason so many people post videos on youtube. It gives me a question to think about. Is you tube only to post videos or a way to reach fame?

Research Questions 4/9/09

How does one really restrict people from seein things in social network?

What prones people to put private information out there?

What attracts people to use social networks so often an in an excesive amount?

Thesis for Social Networking and Privacy 4/9/09

Thesis: Social networking tools can be very useful to get in touch with people who you know in a personal level and also with those that you don't. Some social networking tools make it very easy to post personal information up, but who really wants everyone looking at it. Yes there are ways that one can protect the information posted on these websites by changing your settings to private or only allowing people who you have "friend-ed" to see them but how private are the settings you are applying? Hackers and other very technology wise people can get through all these protection settings and get to your information with out you even knowing.

Wikipedia Youtube Assesment 4/9/09

The Wikipedia web site tells us what the use of this website is for and by whom it was created. It also tells us all the uses for youtube and what is and what is not allowed to be posted on the website. The description about youtube is very accurate about the uses of youtube. Some criticism that has been talked about is that youtube does not check out the videos before they are posted and some violate the copyright on some tv shows and other copy written material. Other criticisms are that there is still inappropriate material posted even though there should not be and user privacy has also been violated. Some information i could use that is on wikipedia is all this criticisms with the court hearings that are provided and the social impact that youtube has had on people.

You Tube assesment 4/6/09

You tube is a website where videos, picture slides can be posted for everyone to see. Music videos to movie clips can be posted on here even home made videos. The only thing that cannot be posted on here are pornographic videos which is probably a good thing. Comments can also be posted by anyone who has an account about every video that is posted onto this web site. In order to be able to post videos an account must be created. Once an account is made you can tell a little bit about yourself and even post a picture so that people can know who you are. The way youtube is by just going on youtube.com and browsing any video that seems interested. An account must be created only if you wish to post videos of your own or if there are videos that are not meant for people under 18 years of age. For these kinds of videos that are not suitable for people 18 and under an age check is required. If you do have an account you can make other poeple your friends and send messages to them. Playlists of videos can also be created and shared. Everyone from people who are into music or are politicians use youtube to post videos about their everyday interests. There are practically videos of everything on this website. This website allows users to post everything from things they like to their own political statements and their believes thats why its important for people because they can show other people what they are about. This web site is useful but can also not be useful at all depending on how its used because if you are looking for music videos of course its useful but if your trying to find our information about something it can go either way because any one can post videos and depending on the source it can be useful or it wont. There is not much private information aparent to the other users other than age, name and where one is from so this seems pretty safe. There is other information such as favorite movies, books and questions like that but over all not much personal information is shown about the users who do have accounts on youtube.

Assesing tech articles 4/2/09 pg 776

This article is not an atuthoritative source beacuse it is only people responding to eachother about what eachother previously said. This is not a general aritcle because many people believe many several things. Berry just gets told why what he is doing is wrong and it does not make it a credible source to believe that either side is right. Opinions are the only things that are being thrown at eachother and because Berry is just a farmer it makes it less authoritative.

Facebook terms of service compared with MySpace, Flickr, Picasa, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Twitter 3/31/09

I like how this article talks about alot of different public websites that people can use to post pictures and other information, and it talks about all the rights that those sites have. Its nice how they break it down so that if you are looking for a specific web site and how it explains what happens to the info you post on this web site after you dont use it anymore. I also like how the comment box is in the bottom and we can see what people think about all this info that is posted in this article.

Facebook's New Terms Of Service: "We Can Do Anything We Want With Your Content. Forever." 3/31/09

I like how this article talks about the problem that occured with face book and then turn into a comment or quote to tell us how people feel about this to further explain the problem that occured. It is nice how this acticle is broke down into updates to show the process of how everything came to be since the beggining. Then the comment box at the bottom is great because people express what they feel.

The value of human readable deeds 3/31/09

I like how the deed is exlplained in the article and explains what happened so that it became readeadble to the users of facebook. It is nice that it is exlained that if other laws or right need to be implimented to let them know.

Brainstorming technology 3/17/09

it is the advancement of human nature, anything that makes everyday tasks easier for us to do. Making us move forward and completing more.

Computers, the wheels on things, agruculture tractors, phone, internet,

we the people because if we didnt need to complete tasks we would have no need for these technologies that are being created. by we the people the companies also fall into this category.

when we lose control of our personal information other people can use it and call it their own. it can be used against us. it can make us be seen as the bad guy. its no longer ours or mine.

outline 3/3/09

Introduction: The California State budget cuts do not only effect California residents who currently hold jobs but they also effect current SJSU students who will be graduating soon and will have to look for a job. The budget cuts will limit the number of jobs that are in the job market making it harder for student attending SJSU to acquire a job because competition will be much grater especially because they won’t only be competing with fellow classmates at SJSU but also with other much better school such as Stanford and Berkley.

A: Key points
1. Jobs for Graduating students will be cut short.
2. Effect Budget cuts have on my personal life.
3. Solutions

2/24/09 interview

Q: How do you feel about the California State Budget cuts?
A: I feel like the rich people are getting richer and the poor people are getting poorer. I feel that the ones who are getting the most impact of the budget cuts are the students and the senior citizens.

Q: Do the budget cuts affect you? If so how do they?
A: Yes they do because I am graduating this semester and the cuts are lowering the amount of jobs available in the job market and this will make it hard for me to attain a job.

Q: Do you think the budget cuts will ever be fixed?
A: I think they eventually will but it is going to take time and also electing the right officials will help them get better.

2/24/09 authoritative source

I choose this cartoon because it shows how budget cuts are effecting the education of young children. It shows that even something as easy as animals can be mistaken because of the low quality of education the budget cuts leave the children.

2/19/09 retorical strategies

Tone
Evidence- talks about the past of Kerry
Persuasion- Tell reasons why he would be best
Arguement
Point of View-
Background info
Public Beliefs.....

2/19/09 Politics Summary

In the politics section i read "The Audacity of Hope" written by Barack Obama and it was mostly about why we should have picked Jonh Kerry to be president. Obama first starts by talking about his backgorund and then moves on to the present day and disscuses some issues that are going on. He tells us how Kerry realates to them and why he would be best suited to be president. Obama uses Kerry's background of him being in the Veitnam war to show how he has and can help the USA. Obama uses hope as something that we are all serching for and something that we need and also tells us that Kerry is the right person to bring this hope to us. Obama also tell us how we are supposed to work together in order to work better as a country and if Kerry was elected president.....

2/17/09 Obama Speech

The way that President Obama gets the people to believe in him and to follow him is by talking about the problems that are going on within the country and saying that event though they it might take time to fix them it will eventually happen. The way he gives us hope that this change will occur is when he goes back in time and says that sixty years ago his father was not able to even get served in a local restaurant and now he is standing in front of us taking a sacred oath. I believe that this really helps the people believe that he will make a change. I believe that also by referencing to the past and letting us know of all the hardships that this country has had to over come it makes us feel like change can and is going to happen.
